Some experts at the meeting believe that in the future, the application potential of supercapacitors in new energy commercial vehicles is huge, or it will account for 50% of the entire application. Need to continuously improve energy density and cost performance
Although supercapacitors have many advantages, there are still two short boards that become the biggest constraints. One is low energy density, and the other is high price.
At present, the energy density of supercapacitors with better performance in China is 30 WHr/kg, while the energy density of most secondary batteries has exceeded 200 WHr/kg. This means that the storage of the same amount of electricity, the volume of the super capacitor is much larger than the battery, so it can not be in some areas limited by space, such as new energy passenger cars, communication base station backup power and other fields blindly.
In addition to energy density, the same capacity of energy storage devices, supercapacitors are several times more expensive than batteries. Therefore, supercapacitors cannot be directly used as the main force of energy storage, but should be the main force of energy recovery.
In view of the current situation of the industry, Academician Yang Yusheng, chairman of the Supercapacitor Industry Alliance, believes that the supercapacitor industry needs to further expand the scale of the industry and actively expand new application scenarios and profit models.
